I’m Arushi.
I’m a working mother, a writer, and an Indian woman living in Bangkok. I work full-time in social media and brand strategy, leading regional social media for a global brand. My days are structured, demanding, and outward-facing. I spend them balancing work, caregiving, and the quiet effort of staying emotionally steady.
I started writing seriously after I became a mother. Pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period were much harder for me than I expected. I struggled with anxiety, burnout, and a constant sense of being overwhelmed. I was functioning, but I had no real way to process what I was feeling.
Writing gave me that space.
It started as private journaling. Notes written late at night or in small pockets of time between work and parenting. Over time, I began sharing pieces with friends and, in small mother communities I was part of. What surprised me was how many women recognised themselves in the words and shared their own stories in return.
That exchange is what stayed with me.
It’s Okay Here grew out of that process. This space holds personal essays and reflections on motherhood, identity shifts, anxiety, burnout, relationships, the body, and the emotional patterns that shape daily life. Some of the stories are mine. Over time, I also hope to share and curate stories from others that carry the same honesty.
Writing is part of how I take care of myself. It’s how I unlearn old coping mechanisms, learn to regulate my nervous system, and navigate complex emotions while still wanting a full, ambitious life.
Right now, It’s Okay Here, is an experiment in vulnerability. I’m choosing to write in public instead of keeping everything private, and to see what kinds of conversations that opens up.
Over time, I hope this grows into something more community-focused. Shared storytelling. Honest conversations. Maybe workshops or circles in the future. I’m letting it take shape slowly.
